Weekly Highlights | March 22- 28

10:04 PM

Sunday

On Sunday we started off our day by watching Church again and I tried to make crepes with Nutella. The kids really liked them but I'm not sure what the consistency of crepes is supposed to be (because I've never actually eaten them before) so I'm not so sure how good they actually were.  After Church we went for a walk and the kids played at their new favorite play place, the sand pit!  We found a new tree to climb on and we got to see a lizard who was hanging out on the tree.  (I think this is one of the first lizards I've seen in CA)

Monday

Monday was another day in "quarantine". We had breakfast and then went out for our walk and ended up in the sand pit again.  Ellie practiced riding her bike girl balance bike, she did pretty well (but I think it might have been too much work for her because she hasn't wanted to ride it since).

While we were at the sand pit we played pirates and searched for buried treasure!  The kids found rocks and sticks that were their treasure and I would hide them in the sand.

Tuesday

Our days are really looking starting to look a like.  There isn't much variation in our activities due to the lack of options.  We went out for our walk and climbed on the new tree we found earlier in the week and then played in the sand again.

Before dinner trying to entertain the kids we attempted to send a straw down a piece of yarn using a balloon.  The kids thought this was funny and entertaining at least for a little bit and then turned into just playing with balloons.

Wednesday

We changed up our routine just a little bit and ended up not going on our walk.  We ended up just playing outside.  I ran the kids around the house to burn off some energy and the boys were so cute they said they were going to hold hands so they could run together and win together during our race around the house.  After our races I set up an obstacle course for the kids to run through and I timed them which they enjoyed.  The boys love to try to be fast and timing them adds an extra element of excitement for them.  We also worked on cheering each other on while they were running the course. It was cute then boys would finish they would ask each other "Do you wanna give me a high five?"

Thursday

Thursday we were back to our regular scheduled programming with our walk in the morning and school in the afternoon.   The boys worked on writing their names instead of tracing them during school time and I was so proud of them.  William did a really good job and James had some trouble but I was so proud of how he didn't give up and when he finished he was so proud of himself also!

Some other exciting news in the house on Thursday was that Benjamin army crawled a little for the first time every!  So exciting for these little milestones!

I took this picture of Ellie because she just cracks me up.  She was walking around with this blanket on her head.  I just want to remember things like this when she's older (and since my brain retains nothing right now due to lack of sleep I need pictures to remember!)

Also how cute is she falling asleep reading to herself!

Friday

Friday on our walk we found great mud puddle to jump in and came home soaking wet and super muddy!  But they have so much fun in the puddles that I can't resist letting them go to town jumping, splashing and stomping away in them!

The boys continued to work on writing letters during "school".  They both tried so hard working on the first letters of their names!

Benjamin turned 6 months old on Thursday.  I'm not sure how that happened, time really does fly by and I'm always wishing it would slow down just a little.

Saturday

On Saturday I needed to come up with something entertaining to do so I pulled out the baking soda, vinegar and food coloring.  I dyed the vinegar a few different colors and gave each kid a pan filled with baking soda.  Each one had a medicine dropper from a Tylenol bottle and they used those to suck up the vinegar and squirt it onto the baking soda.  This activity entertained them for over and hour!  It was great!!  And after they finished with all the vinegar they used the left over baking soda to draw and write in using skewers.

6 month update

Benjamin | Six Month Update

10:14 PM

My baby is 1/2 a year old!  I don't know where the time has gone.  Six months have never gone so quickly!  If the next six months go as quickly we'll be celebrating your 1st birthday before you know it (and I'm definitely not ready for that!)

Height: Approx 27.75in
Weight: Approx 18.6lbs (19lbs 5oz on 4/15 when we went to the dr)

Likes: Bathtime, his siblings, Mommy, Daddy
Dislikes: Being left alone

Sleep

What is sleep?  There has not been much improvement in Benjamin's sleep habits this month.  He continues to wake up several times throughout the night and once he wakes up around 10:30 he rarely wants to be put back down in his bed alone.  This means he usually ends up sleeping next to me and even then he doesn't sleep peacefully through the night.  His night time routine begins around 6:30 with a bath followed by lotion and jammies then nursing and bed.  He is usually asleep by 7:15/7:20.

Eat

This month not much has changed in the eating department.  Benjamin continues to exclusively breastfeed.  His breastfeeding schedule hasn't changed much either.

Benjamin's Six Month "Schedule"
7:30 Wake and Nurse
9:30/10:00 Nurse
12:00/1:00 Nurse and Nap (possibly)
3:00 Nurse
5:00 Nurse
7:00 Nurse and Bed

Development/ Play

This month Benjamin perfected his rolling from back to belly.  He rolled over from back to belly on the day he turned 5 months and basically since then almost any time he is laid down on his back he flips over on to his belly.

Benjamin has started putting his toes in his mouth and will literally suck on his big toe like its his thumb.  Getting his toes in his mouth makes him laugh.

Benjamin now is making a fake coughing sound.

Has started fake coughing
3/3 put his toes in his mouth
3/8 woke up from a nap and Chris brought him down to the kitchen when I took him he put his arm around my neck like he was trying to hug me
3/10 slept in the packnplay
3/26 army crawled a little

Benjamin Joseph,

Oh my sweet boy, how can a baby be so happy!  You just continue to be the happiest little person I know.  Your personality continues to come out more and more each month and I'm loving getting to know you more and more.  You love your siblings and give them the biggest belly laughs.  You give your Daddy lots of smiles when you see him in the morning or after he's done with work.  You are wanting to keep up with siblings so badly and the day before you turned six months old you started to make your move and started trying to army crawl.  I can't wait to see what next month holds for you!  I love watching you grow and change! I am beyond lucky that I get to be your mom!

I love you so much!
