Weekly Highlights | March 22- 28
10:04 PMSunday
On Sunday we started off our day by watching Church again and I tried to make crepes with Nutella. The kids really liked them but I'm not sure what the consistency of crepes is supposed to be (because I've never actually eaten them before) so I'm not so sure how good they actually were. After Church we went for a walk and the kids played at their new favorite play place, the sand pit! We found a new tree to climb on and we got to see a lizard who was hanging out on the tree. (I think this is one of the first lizards I've seen in CA)
Monday
Monday was another day in "quarantine". We had breakfast and then went out for our walk and ended up in the sand pit again. Ellie practiced riding her bike girl balance bike, she did pretty well (but I think it might have been too much work for her because she hasn't wanted to ride it since).
While we were at the sand pit we played pirates and searched for buried treasure! The kids found rocks and sticks that were their treasure and I would hide them in the sand.
Tuesday
Our days are really looking starting to look a like. There isn't much variation in our activities due to the lack of options. We went out for our walk and climbed on the new tree we found earlier in the week and then played in the sand again.
Before dinner trying to entertain the kids we attempted to send a straw down a piece of yarn using a balloon. The kids thought this was funny and entertaining at least for a little bit and then turned into just playing with balloons.
Wednesday
We changed up our routine just a little bit and ended up not going on our walk. We ended up just playing outside. I ran the kids around the house to burn off some energy and the boys were so cute they said they were going to hold hands so they could run together and win together during our race around the house. After our races I set up an obstacle course for the kids to run through and I timed them which they enjoyed. The boys love to try to be fast and timing them adds an extra element of excitement for them. We also worked on cheering each other on while they were running the course. It was cute then boys would finish they would ask each other "Do you wanna give me a high five?"
Thursday
Thursday we were back to our regular scheduled programming with our walk in the morning and school in the afternoon. The boys worked on writing their names instead of tracing them during school time and I was so proud of them. William did a really good job and James had some trouble but I was so proud of how he didn't give up and when he finished he was so proud of himself also!
Some other exciting news in the house on Thursday was that Benjamin army crawled a little for the first time every! So exciting for these little milestones!
I took this picture of Ellie because she just cracks me up. She was walking around with this blanket on her head. I just want to remember things like this when she's older (and since my brain retains nothing right now due to lack of sleep I need pictures to remember!)
Also how cute is she falling asleep reading to herself!
Friday
Friday on our walk we found great mud puddle to jump in and came home soaking wet and super muddy! But they have so much fun in the puddles that I can't resist letting them go to town jumping, splashing and stomping away in them!
The boys continued to work on writing letters during "school". They both tried so hard working on the first letters of their names!
Benjamin turned 6 months old on Thursday. I'm not sure how that happened, time really does fly by and I'm always wishing it would slow down just a little.
Saturday
On Saturday I needed to come up with something entertaining to do so I pulled out the baking soda, vinegar and food coloring. I dyed the vinegar a few different colors and gave each kid a pan filled with baking soda. Each one had a medicine dropper from a Tylenol bottle and they used those to suck up the vinegar and squirt it onto the baking soda. This activity entertained them for over and hour! It was great!! And after they finished with all the vinegar they used the left over baking soda to draw and write in using skewers.
