Weekly Highlights | March 29 - April 4
9:07 PMSunday
We started off our week with a slow relaxing morning. I tried watching church, but it kept freezing so instead we watch a few videos the church had for the kids Sunday school. The message for them this week was "Who can you follow?" "Jesus". And I have used that questions at least once a day this week and every time I asked them the question they would all answer "Jesus" and usually would improve their behavior.
Ellie loves to take pictures with my phone and she snapped this one on Sunday morning of Benjamin's hand in mine
After watching church we went out for our walk for the day and Braxton joined us. Ellie kept asking to walk him and she was thrilled when I let her hold his leash. (Thankfully Braxton is a wonderful dog and stayed right next to me while she was "walked" him.)
Monday
Monday was another day in Stay-at-Home land. We went out for our walk in the morning. The kids got to watch the diggers knocking down more houses in the construction zone and then played in the sand pit. The Boys were so cute with Ellie wanting to hold her hand walking towards the sand.
How sweet is Ellie with her little ankles crossed
Tuesday
Big news in our house on Monday Benjamin tried food for the first time. He got to try broccoli for the first time. He was a little unsure about it and made some funny faces but seemed to enjoy it.
During School time we worked on using scissors and Ellie loved trying to cut out her picture.
Wednesday
I hung the swing back up in the toy closet door at Ellie's request and the kids took turns pushing each other in it.
I ran a quick errand to Target to get night time undies for the kids. When I got back from my errand the kids and I did an activity. They made bracelets!
The hand holding makes me smile
Thursday
Since trying food a few days ago Benjamin has really increased his interest in what we are eating. I made the kids smoothies for breakfast and Benjamin kept grabbing my cup trying to get what was inside. (I ended up giving him a little taste).
After breakfast we started our day off with me promising the kids bubbles only to discover that our bubble machine was broken and we had no bubble wands so we had to improvise. We found out that slotted spoon and spatulas work well to blow bubbles when you're in a pinch. We ended up ordering a new bubble machine to pick up at Target and we all rode in the car to pick it up. This was exciting for the kids since they haven't been in the car since March 12. (They really don't understand why they can't go into the stores like we used to and when we were waiting for our stuff at Target they were saying "Those people are going into the store, but they don't have kids with them. That's why they get to go in". As we were leaving Ellie asked if we could go to the commissary. The kids really don't really understand why they can't go to the store with me.
We got back with our new bubble machine we had to play with it right away and spent a lot of time outside enjoying the nice weather!
During dinner Benjamin got to try another new food: green beans! These have always been a favorite of my kids when they start food and Benjamin too seemed to enjoy them.
Friday
How we started off our morning, the kids playing with their paw patrol toys at the table.
I wanted the kids to have some fun on Friday and decided we should have a little "Balloon Olympics". I made a sign, created medals and organized events: balloon race, balloon slingshot, balloon batting, balloon, buckets, and balloon volleyball. While prepping for our fun I got to pick up the house a bit (this made me very happy! It feels good to have a picked up house).
When we started our balloon games only to find out William has a very competitive spirit and was very upset when he had difficulty completing some of balloon tasks. I just wanted us to all have fun together. (We will try our balloon games again at another time)
Our judge fell asleep on the job!
After the balloon games we did a little school and the kids did a sticker activity with letters that they really enjoyed!
Saturday
Ellie climbed the cupboard to hide while I was making breakfast. My mom always had a cupboard for us to play in when we were growing up and it is something I would like to have for my kids. I sort of had one at our last house, but at this house there really isn't any room. Maybe at our next house we'll have the room.
I ran out to the commissary in the morning to get a few more groceries and hopefully not have to go out again for awhile. When I got back I put Benjamin down for what ended up being the longest nap of his life (almost three hours) before making lunch for the big kids and taking them out to the garage for a picnic and bubble fun. The boys pretended to read to each other, played with their old cozy coupe and jumped off their play house.
The boys play with old water bottles, that they were calling Jelly blasters, and Will went to find Ellie an old bottle so she could play with them. It was so sweet!
The boys love of lego is very strong right now!
I found him sucking his thumb while he was napping!
