Weekly Highlights | April 19-25

3:01 PM

These quarantine weeks are all blending together, I can't believe another week has gone by.  The days seem long sometimes but then I blink and its Friday or Saturday again.   So here is what we got up to this week during our #stayhome time!

Sunday

I made muffins on Sunday morning for breakfast and the kids wanted to help me so we mixed up a batch of chocolate chip muffins to enjoy.  I put them in the oven to cook and when I went to get them out they had barely risen at all and looked a little weird so trying to figure out what I had done wrong I looked back at the recipe and realized I forgot to add the sugar to the muffins!  (My brain is so tired and with the kids "helping" I guess I got distracted). So instead of muffins we ended up making sort of chocolate chip biscuits.  They actually didn't taste bad at all and since there was no sugar in the recipe I didn't mind the kids have a few each!

After making our muffins we headed outside to enjoy the sunshine and burn off some energy.  The boys and I played a game of tag running around the cars in the driveway.  (I ended up running around for more than .75 of a mile while playing tag, so not too bad for not leaving our driveway).

Monday

Monday we did school in the mornings and then the boys went to play in their room.  And then William walked back down to the kitchen crying because he got hit in the face.  And he sure did! Faces, noses, mouths bleed a lot so the blood usually looks worse than it is, but I swear we have someone bleeding at least once a week, if not more (my boys play rough sometimes and accidents happen!)

In less gory news Benjamin tried banana for the first time

Tuesday

We spent about three or four hours outside (because what else is there to do these days). Everyone bounced around in the bounce house, even Benjamin.

Benjamin pulled himself up on the trampoline for the first time, something he'd been trying to do for a couple of days.

Wednesday

After a couple days of the bounce house we took it down and I got out our ball pit balls which Will, James and Ellie haven't seen in over a year.  A bonus activity: I bought a small kiddie pool to put the balls in and the big kids got to use the bike pump to blow up the pool (getting out some extra energy before even enjoying the ball pit).

Thursday

After "school" time I did a craft with their hands.  The boys chose to make jellyfish and Ellie wanted to make a cat!

I also trimmed the little "rat tails" off the back of the boys heads because I didn't like looking at them but I don't dare do anything else to their hair.

Friday

We had a picnic on our front lawn for a change of scenery.  We spent another full day outside.  William, James and Ellie ended up covered in blueberries and dirt, which ended up with the kids getting in a shower with bath colors.

Saturday

Saturday was a fun day!  I got to go to Target in the morning for a few things and even though I was shopping with a mask on and getting through with my shopping as quickly as possible it was still nice to go out for a moment.

When I got home we went outside to play and while we were out there we started hearing sirens which turned out to belong to a drive by parade to celebrate the month of the military child.  The parade included several police cars and a fire truck.

Then "we", meaning me, decorated the driveway a bit with chalk and pretty pictures!

While I was at Target I got the boys matching shirts.  I wanted a picture of all my boys and it was cute how Will and James were excited to hold Benjamin's hand and take a picture with him.
