Weekly Highlights | March 15-21
9:36 PM
Welcome to the middle of March and our world is turning upside down.
On Sunday morning the kids and I woke up and watched the 8:30am church service on T.V. because all services at church have now gone online because groups of 250 people or more have been discouraged. I made the kids, and myself, donuts since we usually get a donut at the end of church services.
Later on in the day Disney + released Frozen 2. I set up the living room for the kids with their bear mats and bean bag chairs, made them special popcorn and turned on the movie for us! It was great! All the kids loved it!
He's just so cute!
Monday
Monday ended up being our last trip to the park! We made the best of it, even though at the time we didn't know it was our last trip. We went to two of our favorite parks and ended up running into friends from the boys school. When we got home from the park I had an email in my inbox from our neighborhood saying the parks were closed until further notice, So disappointing. At dinner I had to explain to the boys that we wouldn't be able to go to the park for a while. When I told them the parks were closed they asked "All of them are closed?"
Tuesday
In the morning Benjamin and I made a quick trip out to the Commissary and Costco for one last restock. It was busy at the stores and they were out of somethings, but we got what we needed. When we got home the kids had their first session of "Mom my School". (They really seemed to enjoy it).

Later in the afternoon we went outside drew with chalk and ran a few laps around the house.

Later in the day an order came the our county was going to enforce a Shelter in Place order starting at midnight.
Then this guy woke up ready to party, I desperately need sleep but how can you say no to that sweet face!

For our outside time we went for a nature scavenger hunt. I have found that it is much easier to get the kids outside and excited about a walk if they are actively looking for things. We also stay out for a much longer time!
They watched the diggers knocking down houses
I can't believe how big Will and James are getting! They just look so grown up to me sometimes.
Another day of "Mommy" school
Hanging out on the quilt Grambie made him!
Our first full day of quarantining against Covid-19 and isolating ourselves from our friends went decently well.
Thursday
Day Two of full isolation from friends (and I would say family as well, but since they live on the other side of the country we don't usually sees them) and it went decently well again. We continued with our new "routine". The mornings continue to be pretty lacks which is good for us since I'm not a morning person nor am I getting a full nights sleep (thanks to Benjamin!). We went out for both a bike ride and a walk during our outside time and the boys ended up climbing on some fallen down trees.
My girl ready for another outdoor adventure!
Again with the looking so big and grown up! Can they please stop doing that!!
They did their school time and actually look forward to it which is fun.
"Look, I put my pen behind my ear!"
Friday
Day three and we stuck to our new routine. My kids, the boys especially I feel, enjoy a routine. They do better when they know what is coming and since their normal routine has completely shut down, I think they like ours. Our big activity for the day is of course our outside time and the kids ended up jumping in a muddy puddle we found and playing in a sand pit. It really is the simple things in life that bring them joy. (And cause them distress since although they loved jumping in the mud my kids don't really like to be dirty and were a bit upset when at the end they were covered in mud. I'm not really sure what they thought was going to happen when they were jumping in the mud). We followed up our outdoor time with an afternoon bath before lunch with some bath colors!
Saturday
On Saturday we woke up to rain so our new routine was thrown off a little bit. We weren't able to head out from out walk right away so instead we did school in the morning and went on our walk in the afternoon. On our walk we decided to clean up litter. I handed out Target bags to the kids and off we went. William really got into picking up the litter and would run around picking up anything he could find.
All done collecting litter!
Benjamin and Brogan!
