Weekend Happenings

10:13 PM

Yet another weekend has come and gone! This one included an extra day off for my handsome hubby so we were able to squeeze in a little more family time! I feel like this weekend was jam packed making it both exciting and exhausting.

We started the weekend off right, by allowing Christopher to sleep in, by going to the indoor play at our local gymnastics gym for an hour of "jumping" baby style, tube crawling, tumbling, ball throwing, and climbing.  The boys had a blast and I felt so accomplished when we came home from being out and it was only 10:30!

Half of my boys (Will) continued their awesome streak of napping like a rockstar while the other half (James) got to spend a little one on one time with both mommy and daddy since after chatting with himself for about 45 minutes in his crib he was done and ended up screaming until I would rescue him from boredom I guess.

Getting his extra time with Mommy and Daddy and a special treat!

Once both boys were up we went on a family outing up to the big city 45 minutes away to take a trip to the Apple Store so mommy and daddy could get a few new treats!  A new iPad for Daddy and a new laptop for mommy! (I'm typing this now on my new laptop and am LOVING it!!). Will and James were so well behaved we took them to the little indoor play place in the mall to blow off some steam.  The play place wasn't too impressive but the boys didn't seem to mind and had a blast attempting to climb the foam animals on the ground.  The last stop of our family outing was a late lunch/early dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.  Chris and I realized this was the first time we had been out to eat with the boys just the four of us.  The boys did surprisingly well and we left the restaurant with only a few things dropped on the floor.  In those restaurants the tables are so close to each other I felt like we were on the date with the couple next to us (who I felt a little bad for since Will continually was offering them straws, cup lids and napkins).  There were a few times when Will looked over at the table near by and wondered why he was unable to have food off of their plates.

Sunday was a quiet day for Chris since he wasn't feeling the greatest, but another day filled with fun for me and the boys.  We texted our friends to see if they would want to join us at the park in the afternoon but they were headed to the zoo for the day and invited us along.  So after getting our stuff together as quickly as I could I loaded the boys up into the car and headed back to the zoo for the second time in one week!  We had a blast even though it was freezing out, not technically but the temp did hover somewhere around 46 the whole day with no sun out to warm us up!  The animals were quite active.  We were able to see things I've never seen at the zoo before: the two female lions were wrestling and playing, the two rhinos were play fighting, we got to see a male orangutan we'd never seen before and the tigers were very active.  Allie and I are pretty sure that the female tiger for a moment decided that her daughter Aubrey looked like a tasty treat (she stopped her pacing and intently watched Aubrey moving around).  The boys had another great time at the zoo.  Will worked on his lion sounds, enjoyed feeding the giraffes lettuce and loved watching the seals and sea lions swimming.  James enjoyed the elephants and loved watching the monkeys swing and playing in the jeep near the lions.

Will was not a fan of the tiger mascot. And I may be a bad mom but I was laughing while this photo was being taken, his reaction was priceless!

The many faces of Will

The boys had a blast "driving" the jeep in the lion viewing area.  They are starting to get into vehicles and enjoying turning the wheel and "beeping" the horn (thankfully it doesn't actually make noise!)

Getting a picture nowadays with both boys looking is nearly impossible!  Most of the time like you can see above I get one to look and the other looks away.  To get the picture below with both boys looking took over 15 pictures! A big thank you to my friend Allie for taking the pictures and making silly noises to get my boys to look!

Watching the elephant.  He was so close to the fence this time James was able to get an even better view of him!

Will seemed to enjoy feeding the giraffe this time even though he's not really smiling in the picture.  James on the other hand wouldn't even put his hand on the lettuce.

Monday rounded out the last day of our wonderful, fun-filled long weekend.  Chris still wasn't feeling up to scratch so he had another quiet day at home.  In the afternoon the boys and I headed out to Imagine U, an interactive children's museum.  We have been to this place once before and I could tell the boys remembered because as soon as we got there they were ready for me to put them down so they could go play!  Imagine U is set up with different interactive "exhibits" an orchard, repair shop, building blocks, art station, music, dress up and a little kids area.  The boys had a blast exploring each exhibit and trying to keep up with the big kids playing.

He is getting too big, walking around everywhere!

Will was fascinated by the ball in the air stream.  He even used a step stool by himself to get up to reach the button to turn on the air.  I was impressed at how quickly he figured out how to make it work!

Watching the big kids and then trying out the tools for themselves!

When we arrived home I had a wonderful surprise: Chris was cooking dinner for us!  Once the boys were in bed Chris and I were able to enjoy a nice meal together!  And we finished our night off with frozen yogurt!  This weekend was filled with so many fun activities  and lots of memories!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend filled with fun times!
