Twelve Days of Christmas | Day Ten

8:56 PM

I can't believe we are already on day ten of our twelve days of Christmas!  The time has flown by and in only two more days Christmas will be here.  I am both excited and a little sad since my favorite time of the year is coming to an end.  Also I will be sad for the boys when all of the beautiful Christmas lights go away (they love them so much and we have been going out almost every night to look at them)

Twelve days of Christmas for my hubby: Day Ten

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me
Ten new black pens for all of my writing needs!!

Twelve days of Christmas for my little men: Day Ten

Today was a relaxed day at home with the boys.  This morning James unfortunately fell off our bed and hit his forehead on our nightstand so I thought we should have a little quiet time cuddling together on our bed.  So for our tenth day activity I decided to try watching a Christmas movie with them. This hasn't been successful in the past, but today I decided to turn on "A Muppet's Family Christmas" and the boys loved it!  We curled up on my bed, enjoyed a little bit of the festive popcorn we made earlier in the week and watch the movie.

This is a movie I watched as a child and it was so much fun sharing it with them!  Usually the tv doesn't hold their attention but they actually sat and cuddled with me for almost the whole movie! This movie may just become a family tradition to watch every Christmas!

The boys with their ice packs, when one has a boo boo the other also needs ice!  You can see the egg on James' forehead, poor baby!

Twelve days of Christmas for my hubby: Day Nine

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me
Nine homemade cookies

Today's gift could not be left on our bed, one of our dogs would definitely have tried to eat them!

For the ninth day of Christmas the boys and I made Christmas Cookies!!
Will and James really enjoyed helping mix the dough for the sugar cookies.

They had lots of fun using the cookie cutters to cut out the shapes.

And even more fun decorating and EATING the cookies!! So much sugar for the little men today!

Making and decorating cookies with the boys is something I have been looking forward to doing with them.  I want to make these wonderful memories with them!  I am already looking forward to doing this again with the boys!

Twelve Days of Christmas for my hubby: Day Eight

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me
eight new dry erase markers to help complete your work

Twelve Days of Christmas for my little men: Day Eight

Today we did another Christmas craft and made salt dough ornaments! Even Ellie participated today putting her mark on one of the ornaments.

Will and James are really into helping out and doing things for themselves right now, so they had a great time helping make the dough.  They helped dump the salt and flour into the bowl and then stirred in the water, keeping most of the flour mixture in the bowl!

I was comparing the boys handprints on the ornaments from this year to the ornaments we made last year and their hands have grown so much! Time goes too quickly and the boys are growing too fast!  (I also think I may have left the dough too thick this year so we will have to see how they dry)

My happy Ellie Girl!  She was happy to get to participate in our craft today!  I can't imagine how much bigger her hand will be next year!

seven sweet kisses

Today the boys and I made holiday bird seed feeders.  The boys were excited to get to help make a special treat for our "bird friends".
We have a few birds that live in tree near our house and they spend time sitting on our backyard fence and perched on a street lamp near our backyard.  They boys are always excited when we see them!

The boys helped mix the gelatin and bird seed together and then had fun filling the Christmas cookie cutters.

I found the directions for the bird feeders on Pinterest

It was super simple

We haven't hung our feeders outside yet.  The original instructions said to let it set up for one hour in the fridge which we didn't do so we are letting it setup over night.  If the weather is nice tomorrow we will put them outside and let you know how they turn out!!

Hope you all are enjoying this wonderful holiday season!  This is my favorite time of the year and it is going by too quickly, there are so many things I want to do with my boys to give them wonderful memories!

We went to visit Santa!

Before we went I asked the boys about visiting Santa
Me: Do you want to see Santa?
Boys: Yes
Me: Do you want to tell Santa what you want for Christmas?
Boys: Yes
Me: Do you want to sit on Santa's lap?
Boys: No! No No No
Me: Do you want to give Santa a high five?
Boys: Yes

I have to say our visit was pretty much a success!
The boys didn't want to get near Santa but were happy to see him.  Ellie on the other hand slept through the visit.

four new pairs of boxer briefs to replace a few pairs that have seen better days!

Twelve Days of Christmas for my little men: Day Four

Today was a fun day for the boys.  We spent the morning at a birthday party where the boys had fun decorating cookies.

Then in the afternoon grandma and grandpa arrived for a visit!  And we went out for a walk around the block to look at Christmas lights!

The boys are so observant and point out everything they see and every house who's lights aren't on!  They know which houses have lights and if they aren't on the boys will let us know, it's so funny!!  I love getting to spend this time of year with my boys, watching them get so excited over the littlest things is so sweet!

Twelve Days of Christmas | Day Three

3:53 PM

This post is a little late, but that is because my computer died last night and I didn't want to get out of bed to get the charger and I had a sleeping Ellie on me!

Twelve Days of Christmas for my little men: Day Three

The boys and I (plus Ellie) made a little holiday craft!  We turned their footprints into snowmen!

They had fun getting the paint on their feet and pressing it onto the canvas!  Just like the other nights they were excited to show their daddy when he got home!

On the Third day of Christmas my true love gave to me
Three little feet that belong to three little people who love me more than anything!!

Twelve Days of Christmas for my little men: Day Two

The little boys and I started our day getting their hair cut.  This really isn't christmasy but they are too cute not to share (and they were wearing their Christmas shirts)

Our actually Christmas activity was decorating their playhouse in the backyard with Christmas Lights!

My boys love love love Christmas lights and were excited to put the on their house.

They helped carry the lights and plugs outside, string the lights on the roof of their house and set up the reindeer.
They couldn't wait to show their daddy how they decorated their house!

Ellie was with us while we decorated hanging out in the ergo.
All the festivities wore her out!

Twelve Days of Christmas | Day One

It's my favorite time of year again and we are counting down the days to Christmas!
Only twelve days to go, celebrating with fun activities for my boys and special treats for my hubby!!

Twelve Days of Christmas for my hubby: Day One

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
One case of energy drinks to keep him energized all month long!

Twelve Days of Christmas for my little men: Day One

The boys and I kicked off our twelve days of Christmas by making a few ornaments.  They had a blast decorating their snowmen and wreaths.  Will and James were so excited to hang them on their Christmas tree and were proud to show their daddy what they had made when he arrived home from work!

So much fun getting into the Christmas spirit!  I love this time of year and love trying to make it as special and magical as I can for my family!

1 month update

Ellie | One Month Update

10:30 PM

This month has been a blur!  I can't believe Ellie has been here a whole month.  There is part of me that feels like she has always been here and the other part can't believe she's here!

Likes: being held, mommy and daddy, watching my big brothers, my swing, being worn in the wrap
Dislikes: my Paci, sleeping far from mommy at night, being hungry, gas bubbles

Height: 21in (birth 20in)
Weight: 9lbs 6oz (birth 7lbs 5oz)

Feeding

Right now I am exclusively breastfeeding Ellie.  At this point I haven't even given Ellie a bottle.  At some point I might want to try giving  her a bottle just to make sure she'll take one incase I need to be away from her.  But for now I'm enjoying not having to pump and not having to clean the pump parts!!  I did get a new breast pump which I've tried out when my milk came in just to alleviate the engorgement at night and it does work great!

Right now Ellie is nursing around the clock.  During the day she is nursing every 2-3 hours.  At night she is averaging 3 hour stretches, but it can range any where from 2-5 hours that she will go between feedings.

Sleeping

I feel like Ellie is over all a pretty good sleeper.  She will nap anywhere during the day: rock n play, bouncy seat, swing, play mat.  But at night she seems to be a little pickier about where she sleeps.  She wants to be near me and no where else.  She is sleeping mostly in 3 hours stretches with occasional 4-5 hour stretches thrown in and unfortunately also a few 2 hour stretches here and there.

We are still working on our schedule right now and she is going to bed later in the evening right now somewhere between 9-10.  I have noticed that now that she is getting a little older she is actually starting to get tired by the end of the day and definitely needs to go sleep.  This is where the fact that she wants to sleep near me comes to bite me in the bum.  Over Thanksgiving we had friends in town and I stayed up visiting with them and even sitting with me she was getting cranky as soon as we went into our room for bed Ellie was asleep within 5 minutes.  That showed me that she is starting to need more of a structured night time and we need to figure out a way for her to go to bed with out me being with her! (Something to work on next month!!)

Development and Firsts

Ellie had her first smile this month on Thanksgiving!  The sweetest little face lit up in the morning.

This month Ellie celebrated two of her first holidays: Halloween and Thanksgiving.

My Sweet Ellie Bellie

How has a month pasted us by already!  I want time to slow down and for you to stay little for as long as possible.  You are so special and have added a piece to our family that we didn't know was missing.  Your brothers adore you already and I can't wait to watch your relationship with them develop.  I love snuggling and cuddling with you, mostly during your brothers nap time and in the evenings.  You are wide awake and so alert after I put your brothers to sleep!  You follow my face as we sit and chat together!  You are definitely a cuddle bug and prefer to be held, I don't mind. You are a sweet happy baby. You barely cry unless you're hungry or want someone to be holding you. You are a true blessing my sweet girl!  I can't wait to watch you grow and develop your personality even more next month.

I love you so much!
