Will & James | 7 Months

11:54 AM

Seven Months!  I can't believe my boys are seven months old, where has the time gone!?!  We are now closer to their first birthday than we are to the day they were born.  Time is going too quickly and really needs to slow down.

William

Weight:Approximately 17 lbs (birth 5lbs 13oz)

EAT

There have been a lot of changes this month when it comes to eating, we have started solid food!  The boys continue to nurse on the same schedule they have for the last several months, but we have now added at least one solid meal to their daily routine.  They have tried about 10 new foods: Broccoli, Zucchini, Green Beans, Orange Bell Pepper, Yellow Squash, Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, Carrots, Potato, Tomato.  We are not really doing purees unless that is the way the food is normally presented, otherwise I am just cooking the food in large pieces until they are extremely soft.  James is loving food while William is a little hesitant.

SLEEP

Sleep this month has been pretty terrible.  I'm not sure what happened but the boys have seemed to have forgotten how to sleep at night, which is extremely disappointing.  They have however started to take a decent morning nap; napping from 10-10:30 for any where from 1.5-3 hours its pretty amazing (and has been great since I've been trying to unpack).  Their bed time routine continues to be the same with bath, bottle, stories, and bed.  They are usually asleep now about 7:30 but are waking up multiple times throughout the night, leaving this momma exhausted the next day.

DEVELOPMENT, GROWTH AND PLAY

The boys have continued to grow and change this month.  They are now both somewhat mobile not crawling but rolling all over the floor.  If you put them down they will no longer stay there and will be in a new location very quickly.  The boys have also been working on sitting up unassisted and James was able to maintain a sitting position for 5-10 seconds all on his own!  It was very cute he straightened his back kept his arms off the ground and just sat there, I was very proud.

Since the boys have started rolling over they now are starting to sleep on their bellies just as often as they sleep on their backs.  They have been sharing a crib and often times I find that they have shifted positions and poor James gets a swift kick in the head from his brother.  We may have to try separate beds soon.

At the beginning of the month the boys had their 6 month check up and vaccines and they have never had a reaction before but this month poor William ended up throwing up after getting his shots.  It made for a very eventful evening.  I felt terrible for him and a little nervous since he would almost choke.

This month is also the first month the boys have had to go without their dad, who deployed two days after they turned 6 months.  Thankfully he will not be gone too long and we are able to send him lots of emails with pictures of the boys!

This month we have also done a few "first" things: We joined our first play group and went the the zoo for the first time.  William enjoyed looking at the kangaroos, but I'm pretty sure he thought they were really strange looking dogs!

James

My Sweet James you are growing so fast! I can't believe you are seven months old.  You are learning to do some many things and are pretty proud of yourself.  I think your favorite thing this month has been the addition of food to your world!  You LOVE to eat!!  You are adventurous when it comes to food and will try anything I put in front of you and so far nothing has disappointed you.  You are working on sitting up on your own and are getting pretty good at it.  I was so proud of you when you the first time you held yourself up with no hands on the ground.   You are now rolling around to get to places you want to go.  You roll all over the play room right out into the hallway, you are always on the move now!  You have also really started to enjoy being in your walker and have mastered making it move forward instead of just backwards!   James you have always enjoyed the dogs but this month you really seem to love them and squeal with delight when they come close to you.  You continue to be as sweet as can be, stay that way!  I Love you with all my heart and am so proud to be your mommy!!!

Love you

William

My Beautiful William, what a month it has been for you.  My poor boy started off this month with getting sick for the first time.  I felt terrible for you when you were throwing up, but even when you were sick you stayed just as sweet as ever.  You my little friend have been a little mischief making since figuring out how to roll around.  You were very kind to roll over to one of mommy's house plants and pull it over spreading dirt everywhere and then trying to eat the leaves of the plant! You are a little unsure of the whole food thing but are slowly coming around.  Your favorite food so far... green beans.  You will happily chomp on a green bean over any other food presented to you.  I would have to say your favorite toy is your jumperoo.  You have always enjoyed it but right now it is your happy place, you actually spent almost an hour in there the other day jumping away with no complaints.  Oh how I love being your mommy with your sweet and funny personality never change my silly willy!  I love you more than you will ever know!

Love You
