William & James | 6 Months

11:48 AM

This post is a little late you'll have to excuse me.  We moved cross country this month and I am just now getting my computer set up to complete this post.

Six Months!  My boys are six months old!  Time has flown way to quickly and before I know it the next six months will fly by and we will be celebrating their first birthday!  Time needs to slow down.

I slacked on taking their weekly photos this month unfortunately, but Life has been crazy!

James
Weight: 15lbs 9oz (birth 5lbs 9oz)
Height: 27inches (birth 18.5 inches)

William
Weight: 15lbs 8.5oz (birth 5lbs 13oz)
Height: 27inches (birth 18.5 inches)

EAT
This area has not really changed much from last month.  The boys continue to breastfeed 5 times throughout the day with a bottle of breastmilk at night.  The boys did get to try a little bit of Avocado right before they turned 6 months.  James seemed interested in it while Will wanted nothing to do with it.  We will be trying more solids next month!

SLEEP
Sleep has been pretty good this month.  With all the traveling we did I was pleasantly surprised with how well the boys have been sleeping.  Before moving their routine was to go to start our bedtime routine around 7:00 with a bath, then stories, bottles with singing, and then bed.  This worked well with them sleeping pretty well most nights until about 3:00-4:00 before they would wake up needing to nurse again.  Sometimes we would even make it a little later like 5:00.  While traveling they basically went to sleep when we arrived at our hotel each night after having a little time to play.  They would then sleep until about 5:00.  We now are back to a night time routine of bath, bottle, stories and then bed; starting around 6:45 with the boys being put down to sleep about 7:30.

DEVELOPMENT, GROWTH & PLAY
This month has definitely been a month of first.  The boys are growing and changing so quickly.  They have both mastered rolling from their backs to their bellies.  James was first rolling over on 4/19 and then William on 4/27.  I find it funny that they continue to meet milestones about a week- two weeks apart with James usually in the lead.  The only difference is although James hits a milestone first he usually does not seem to have it master as quickly as Will does.  Once William figured out rolling back to belly almost every time you put him down he flipped himself over.  It took James a much longer to consistently flip himself.

Both boys found their feet this month and have been playing with.  They have not yet put them in their mouths yet.  William was actually first on this reaching down and grabbing his feet on 4/24 and James was just a few days behind on 4/29.

The boys have really started to enjoy chewing on actual teethers and love putting everything in their mouths.  They will get upset if they are unable to fit a toy they are holding into their mouth.  They have really started drooling and although I don't see any teeth just yet I do believe we are teething!

The boys are still wearing size 2 diapers and I think we will be in those for a while now (at least the next month or so).  They continue to wear mostly 6 month onesies and some 3-6 month jumpsuits.  For the most part all of their clothes still fit but the legs on some of the long one piece outfits are getting a little short and their 6 month jammies are starting to look a little tight due to the length.

This past month we drove cross country from Virginia to California and were able to stop in Texas to see my grandmother.  So William and James got to meet their Great Ma!  She just turned 96 on April 9.  It was great getting to see Ma and having her meet my boys.  What a blessing it was to sit and talk with her and watch her love on my boys.  I wish we lived closer so we could visit her more often.

My Sweet, Precious, Adorable James.
I can't believe you are 6 months old.  This time has flown by and you are becoming such a big boy.  I look back a newborn pictures of you and it makes my heart ache I love you so much.  You are usually such a content little boy but with having to drive cross country this month you let me know just how much you hated being in your carseat for hours on end!  I have never heard you scream so much, but once you commit to something (like screaming) you commit.  I think your record was screaming for about 7 out of 9 hours one day!  You were pretty POed and wanted me to know about it.  Thankfully we all survived the trip in the end!!  You continue to love hearing me sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" It was one of the few things that would calm you down (Your grandma and I both about lost our voices from singing that song on repeat for hours on end).  You also enjoyed having me recite "Goodnight Moon".  We read that book every night so I have it memorized and when I could no longer sing I recited that book over and over.  Another book you enjoy is Peek-a-Who, even when you were really upset the page with the ghost on it made you laugh and laugh.  There is no better sound than your sweet little belly laugh.
You have learned you can reach up and grab the hanging toys on your carseat this month and you have really taken to the dogs as well.  You reach out and try to touch them whenever they get close to you.  You desperately want to move James,  you push your self up and then do the superman hoping that you will move forward.  It won't be too long before you figure it out.
I am thankfully that I get to be your mommy James.  You bring so much Joy and happiness into my life.  I can't wait to continue to watch you learn and grow.  Continue being sweet my boy!

Love You always

William

My Sweet Silly Willy.
How has six months gone by already.  When I was taking your 6 month pictures there was one where you have your little leg propped up and you were laying back and you didn't look like my little baby. You looked much older to me, tears. You are an amazing little boy.  You did do great on the car ride across the country.  You were happy most of the time entertaining yourself.  Every so often we would hear you talking to yourself, laughing and blowing raspberries ( your favorite sound to make).  You really didn't cry too much except for when you were really hungry or you were upset that your brother was crying.  (You definitely sympathy cried with him)  You love to have books read to you and really enjoy looking at all the pictures.  We got the book "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish"  and there were a few characters in that book who made you laugh and laugh.  You also really enjoy the book "Little Blue Truck"  you love all the sounds the animals make in the book.
You have taken to the dogs this month reaching out to try and touch them and even getting excited when you would see them in the hotels at night when we were traveling.  I could tell you recognized your doggies and had missed seeing them during the day.  You continue to be more laid back than your brother not as interested in getting yourself on the move as he seems to be.  You are content to lay with your toys and chew away on anything you can get your hands on.
I am one lucky mommy that I get to call you my son.  Your smile lights up my life!  I'm looking forward to seeing what this next month brings us.  Keep being sweet and silly William!

Love You So Much
