My baby is now nine months old! We are three months away from celebrating her first birthday. (cue all the tears) I actually just booked her first birthday pictures.

This month Ellie has continued to enjoy eating and trying new foods. She is now eating two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) with a snack around lunch some of the time. She has tried several new foods again this month.
New Foods:
- Ravioli

- Crab
- French Toast
- Banana Bread
- Mac n Cheese
- Ice Cream
- Peach
Ellie continues to nurse several times a day: when she wakes up, before nap, before bed, anytime she wakes up at night and possibly a few other times through out the day.
There have been more big developments as far as Ellie's sleep goes this month. Ellie has started taking two naps a day in her crib. We went on vacation to Maine and while we were there Ellie decided that she needed to start taking a morning nap as well as taking her afternoon nap. She is now taking two naps that last any where from 1-3 hours. Also in the last week or so I have started laying her down for her nap awake and she has been able to get herself to sleep.
Another change in her sleep routine is where her crib is located. I have had Ellie's crib located next to my bed since I moved her into it, but it is now located in the alcove of our master bedroom. She is unable to see our bed from her crib now. It is almost like being in her own room except for the fact that there is no wall separating where she sleeps and where I sleep.
As far as her night time sleep Ellie has still been waking up several times a night. Just in the last few nights has she started to sleep a little better and longer stretches. She has also been put down awake the last two nights and has been able to get herself to sleep. I am hoping that this becomes her new night time routine.
Ellie Bellie is the strongest little peanut I know. It cracks me up how strong she is for how little she is.
This month Ellie has started to:
- cruise on furniture
- play peek a boo with blankets
- walk while holding onto my hands
- stand for several seconds unassisted
- stand and do squats
- will stand up while holding things
- climb down the stairs
- Ellie is constantly on the move. Standing, crawling, bouncing, climbing. She still loves to climb up onto our little tikes trampoline to stand and bounce.
Last month she learned to climb up our stairs and this month she has, thankfully, learned how to come down the stairs safely. (It still makes me nervous watching her climb up and down, but she is pretty good at it). She also seems to understand what I mean when I ask her to come down the stairs. Ellie has started climbing on other things as well: boxes, suitcases, basically anything she can get up on and she's pretty proud of herself.
This month Ellie also went to visit Grambie and Geep in Maine for the first time. While we were Maine she got to go on a boat ride for the first time.
Ellie is starting to babble more and I feel its time to add this category. Ellie has now used the /m/ /b/ and /d/ sounds while babbling. She seems to go through phases on which sound she is working on. She has used "mama" to refer to me. But recently she has been focusing on her /b/ and /d/ sounds. She has been using "dada" to refer to Chris recently. I can ask her where daddy is and she will look around and find Chris. She will also sometimes day "bubu" when we are with her brothers. Whether or not she is actually using "bubu" to refer to them I'm not sure.
Ellie does have several words/phrases that she seems to understand: She knows her name, will look for me or Chris when asked where Mommy or Daddy are, Will bounce when I ask her to, and will also walk holding onto my hands when I ask her to. She understands when I tell her to climb down the stairs. I have been trying to give her a short sound to refer to nursing and will say "nu-nu-nursing" If I say do you want "nu-nu" she immediately goes to nurse so I know she understands that phrase as well.
Dear Ellie
You are my little goobs. I can't believe you are nine months already! You continue to have the sweetest personality and are such a happy little girl. You love to eat and will put anything and everything you can in your mouth. You have tried lots of food I probably wouldn't have given you because you stole them from your brothers such as: crackers, breakfast cookies, and goldfish. You are so strong Ellie: you are cruising on furniture, doing squats, standing for several seconds at a time on your own, and will stand up while picking things up! I love hearing your sweet voice as you have been calling out for "mama" a lot this month and I love it!
I love you to the moon and back Ellie Bellie
