6 month update

Ellie | Six Month Update

9:53 PM

Happy half birthday to my beautiful Ellie Bellie!  The last six months have flown by and I can't believe how fast Ellie is growing up.  I wish time would slow down and stop stealing my baby!
All she wants to do is go go go.  She is moving and changing so much faster than he brothers did.

Height: 26.75 inches (birth: 20inches)
Weight: 15lbs 10oz (birth: 7lbs 5oz)

Sleep

Sleep, what is sleep?  Sleep has been pretty terrible this month.  I am living for my morning cup of coffee right now.  Ellie has been waking up every two hours almost every night.  I am hoping that this complete regression in sleeping is due to the fact that Ellie has had a cold and an ear infection this month.  Ellie has started sleeping in her own crib this month.  The crib is in our room but she is no longer using her dock a tot.  She started rolling over in her sleep and she just needed more space to sleep.

I am still trying to work on a nap schedule with Ellie.  I wasn't very good at getting the boys to nap on a schedule at this age and I'm not good at it now.  I feel like Ellie should be napping twice a day but at this time Ellie naps at least once a day while the boys nap.  This nap isn't really helping Ellie to learn how to sleep though because this nap is taken in my arms while I sit in the boys room waiting for them to fall asleep.  I am lucky if I can get her to nap early in the mornings but this nap either occurs in her carseat because we're out running errands or in my arms again.  I think I need to work on getting her to sleep in her bed for naps!

Eat

Ellie is still being exclusively breastfed.  Ellie nursing several times through out the day and since she is waking up every two hours at night she is nursing that often as well.

Ellie's "Schedule"
6:00-6:30 Wake for the day and Nurse
8:30-9:00 Nurse
10:00-11:00 Nap (maybe)
11:00-11:30 Nurse
1:30-2:00 Nurse and then Nap
4:50-5:30 Nurse
7:00 Nurse and Bed

Play/Development
Ellie has had a big month when it comes to development. So what is new...
-She started to take a Paci, sort of at least for a couple of weeks
-Ellie celebrated her first Easter
-Started rocking on her hands and knees
-Started army crawling
-Started sleeping in a crib (in our room but still in her own bed!)
-Ellie got her first cold and got her first ear infection (first ever for any of my kids)
-Ellie loves watching/playing with her brothers.  Now that she can move Ellie gets right into whatever Will and James are doing.
-Ellie will find and pick up any small piece of paper, lint or fuzz she can find and put it in her mouth.  (I don't remember the boys doing this at all)
-Ellie got to ride in the cart at Target like a big girl

Dear Ellie

How has half a year already passed us by?  I can't believe how you are changing.  I want time to slow down so you can stay small forever!  I am loving your personality.  You are so happy all of the time.  Even when you had your first cold and ear infection you would never know how miserable you were feeling because most of the time you were your usual smiley self.  There were only three times when you cried inconsolably and that was when I knew I needed to take you to the dr to figure out what was going on.  I feel like you want to be a big girl already.  You remind me of Will how you master a skill over night.  You started army crawling a little bit on a Saturday and woke up Sunday doing it like you had been scooting around all your life!  You got a bed upgrade this month and are now sleeping in your own crib.  It is currently sitting right next to my bed but you have your own space.  Your sleep has completely regressed since you've been sick but I'm hoping you will start sleeping better soon!  You got to ride in the target cart for the first time like a big girl and you were so excited and proud of yourself.  Ellie we are so lucky and privileged that you are a part of our family!  I can't wait to see what the next month has in store for you.  You bring so much joy to my life each day and always bring a smile to my face!

Love you baby girl!

5 month update

Ellie | Five Month Update

4:57 PM

Well another month has come and gone and now my little Ellie is five months old!  She is such a happy girl.  At the end of each month I keep saying I want to freeze time and this month is no different!  She is growing and changing too quickly.  I feel like I am going to blink and she will be leaving for college.

Ellie 4 months vs Ellie 5 months

Likes: playing with toys, going in the jumperoo, your brothers, teethers
Dislikes: being tired, being left out

Feeding
Not much has changed in this area for Ellie.  She continues to be exclusively breastfed.  She nurses approximately 5-6 times during the day.

Nurse 9:30

Nurse 11:30-12:00

Sleeping
Sleep has been rough this month for Ellie.  We have hit the four month sleep regression and it hasn't been good.  Ellie went from waking once maybe twice a night to waking several times a night and remaining awake for longer periods of time in the middle of the night.

This month we have also had to transition out of her swaddle since she is able to roll from her back to her belly.  She has had a difficulty leaving her swaddle.  I ended up getting her the zippadee zip and it is helping some.

Developments and First

This month Ellie has continued to grow stronger and her personality is coming out more and more!

One thing new is Ellie is able to sit for a few seconds unassisted before she topples over.

Thing month Ellie is teething like crazy this month.  There are no teeth in sight but she will put anything she can reach into her mouth!

Ellie celebrated her first St. Patricks Day!

Ellie is interested in everything going on around her.  She loves her toys, her bothers toys, my water bottles and anything laying next to her.

She is really loving her brothers this month and even squealed with delight when they came down stairs from their nap.  It was so sweet!

This is what happens when Will and James help get Ellie toys!

Dear Ellie

You are another month older and I can't believe it.  I want to freeze this time and keep you little forever.  I am loving your sweet personality that is continuing to develop.  You are full of smiles and giggles!  You continue to love to snuggle, which I love.  You are interested in everything that is going on around you and you don't want to miss out on anything.  You watch your brothers intently and will squeal, giggle, and make lots of noise as you watch them run around playing.  (You want to join in so badly!). You want to grab and chew on anything you can get your hands on: this includes your toys, but also your brothers toys, stickers, the dogs, blankets, mommy's keys and water bottle, books, etc.  If its within your arms reach your will grab it and try to get it into your mouth!  This has been such a fun month with you.  I can't wait to see all of the things you do next month my sweet girl!

Love you Always

Mommy
