Ellie | Four Month Update

9:23 PM

Another month has come and gone and my little Ellie is now a third of a year old!  Four months of having Ellie in our lives and I can't imagine life without her in it.  I feel like this has been a big month for Ellie as far as development and her personality has started to shine!

Ellie 3 months vs Ellie 4 months

Likes: her hands and feet, playing with toys, blankets and lovies, chewing on her thumbs/fingers

Dislikes: being left alone, being tired, loud nosies

Height: 25.5 inches
Weight: 13lbs 15oz

All my little loves in one picture!
(And they are all looking at the camera, that may never happen again!!)

Feeding

Ellie continues to be exclusively breastfed.  She is nursing any where from 6-8 times during the day, depending on when she wakes up and how she is feeling throughout the day.    She continues to wake up 1-2 times through out the night to nurse as well.

Sleeping

Ellie continues to sleep in the dock a tot.  Her night time routine has not changed much this month.  She takes a bath every other night, gets dressed in her jammies, is swaddled in her nested bean swaddle, transforming her into my night time burrito, nurses and heads to bed.  She is usually asleep around 8:00.  She continues to wake up 1-2 times a night.  If I'm lucky she will sleep until 3-3:30, but sometimes she will wake up around sometime between 10-12 and then again around 3:30.

Ellie's "Schedule"

6-6:30 wake to nurse
9-10 Nurse and then nap
11-12 nurse
1:30-2 Nurse and then nap
4-5 Nurse and possible cat nap
6:30-7 Nurse
8:00 Nurse and then bed

Development and Firsts
The progression of trying to get a picture.  Didn't turn out how I wanted.  And then she was still angry! haha

This has been a fun month with Ellie.  She has started to play with toys and gets so excited when you hand her one.  She will wave her arms and squeal with excitement when presented with something to play with.  She has also started reaching up to grab dangly toys on her play mat and bouncy seats.  She seems to understand that some of the toys will vibrate or make noise when you pull on them and she works hard to make them work!

Ellie found her feet this month!  Her feet may one of her favorite toys especially if she is wearing her unicorn booties!

Ellie has develop a love for blankets and lovies this month.  She loves to rub the soft material on her face or scrunch up thing swaddle blankets and possibly chew/suck on them.

Ellie loves chewing on her thumbs/fingers.

This month Ellie has started reacting to loud sudden noises and she usually cries.  This is new for me since I don't remember the boys ever caring that much about loud noises.  She has been startled more than once and it makes her cry.  It is weird what bothers her: loud rattling noises, her brothers crying/screaming, loud banging toys.  And what doesn't bother her: the vacuum, the blender, the hair dryer.

Ellie rolled from her back to her belly!  The first time she did it I wan't sure if it was a fluke or a skill she had actually mastered but it is definitely something she has down and she will roll over to try to reach her toys anytime she wants.

Ellie has started to imitate noises like blowing raspberries and has started playing around vocally.  She will screech and giggle, coo and make all sorts of noises.  Its fun to listen to her play with her voice. She loves talking to people and telling long stories.

Ellie has started to laugh this month.  She will belly laugh when you tickle her or while she's in the bath.

Ellie rode in the swing for the first time!  She loves it, she has spent many afternoons/evening swinging away!

My Dear Sweet Ellie Bellie,

I can't believe you are now Four months old!  This has been such a fun month with you as your personality starts to really shine.  You are so happy in the mornings, you wake up and give me the biggest smile.  You make getting up around 6:00-6:30 a little easier with that sweet voice and happy grin.  Your new love of toys is so sweet.  I'm not sure I have ever seen a baby get so excited about being handed a soft block or a ball.  Your little arms go crazy, you kick your feet and squeal with delight.  You want to be where the action is.  You do not like to be left in the playroom if we are in the kitchen and if I need to walk away to help your brothers for a moment you will get upset if you think I've been gone too long.  You continue to love being held and I truly don't mind.  I know that the days of you wanting me to hold you will come too quickly to an end for my liking so I'm going to soak up every moment I can getting to hold and snuggle you!  You are mastering new skills rolling over back to belly, finding your feet, grasping and holding toys, laughing I'm so proud of you!  I feel like you are doing these things a lot sooner than your brothers did and I will be interested to see if that continues with other developments.  I am excited to see what this next month has in store for you!  You are a light in my life Ellie!  What a blessing it is to be your momma!

I love you more than words can express

Love
Mommy
