3 month update

Ellie | Three Month Update

9:44 PM

My little girlie is three months old already! Time flies when you're having fun, are exhausted, chasing two toddlers, and are just busy living life!

Ellie 2 months vs Ellie 3 months

Likes: her hands, bath time, "sitting up", being held, nursing, mornings

Dislikes: laying down by herself too long, having a dirty diaper,

Height: approx 23.75in
Weight: approx 12.2lbs

Feeding

Ellie continues to be exclusively breastfed.  She is nursing on demand during the day but usually eats about every 2-3 hours.

At night Ellie wakes up one or two times to nurse, which I don't find to be too bad and actually gives me a decent stretch of sleep.

Sleeping

This past month Ellie has been sleeping in the Dock a Tot.  She is suited up in her nested bean swaddle, nurses and then goes to bed in her dock a tot.  She has been going to bed around 8 o clock.  Ellie is now waking up around 1-2 times a night.

During the day Ellie is starting to transition to actual napping instead of the newborn sleeping all day behavior.  She is now napping 2-3 times a day with distinct awake times in-between.

Development and Firsts

I feel like Ellie has really been changing and developing this month!

She started smacking her lips and tongue together to make noise.

She found the baby in the mirror and she loves that baby!  If Ellie is fussy you can put her in front of mirror and she will usually stop crying.

Selfies work too to make Ellie stop fussing

Ellie found her hands this month and they may be her favorite thing!  She is always holding her hands, intertwining her fingers, and eating them.

Another development Ellie had this month was she rolled from her belly to her back!  I was surprised when she did it and wasn't sure if I should actually count it but then I rolled her back over and she did it about 4 more times, so I decided it should count!

Ellie had her first, and second, flight on an airplane this month.  Her first flight was a night flight and she did amazing, she slept the whole time.  She did great on her second flight too except for a short spurt of crying either because she was tired or her ears hurt I couldn't tell.

Other Random Thoughts

We went to Florida this month and Ellie got to meet all of her cousins.  It was so cute to have all the cousins together.  There are three babies born in the last seven months Luke, my sister Beth's son, Ari, my sister Brittany's son, and Ellie.

Ellie is starting to out grow 0-3 month size clothes already!  I'm not sure how this happened since she just started fitting into them.

My sweet Ellie

How are you getting so big?!?  What a sweet addition you are to our family.  I am so thankful to have you in my life.  I love your sweet personality.  You are a happy little girl.  Most of the time you are all smiles.  The only times you cry are if you're hungry, tired, want your diaper changed or want to be picked up.  You have found your hands this month and you love them!  You are always chewing/suckng on your fingers and clasping your hands together.  You will also sleep holding your hands, which is something your dad does.  You have discovered yourself in the mirror and love to look and chat with yourself. It is so sweet how looking at yourself makes you so happy.  You are trying so hard to get yourself into a more upright position.  You have started doing "baby crunches" pulling your head and legs off the ground when I lay you down.  You are so strong!   I'm excited for this next month to see your sweet personality develop even more!  Part of me is wishing for time to stand still so we can live in your sweet snuggly babyness for every, while another part is excited to watch you hit all these milestones and have your firsts!

I love you so much!  I can't imagine my life without you!  I am so lucky I get to be your mom!

Love you baby Girl

2 month update

Ellie | Two Month Update

8:33 PM

Another month has come and gone! Some how my little Ellie is already two months old and I can't stand it!!  You will probably hear me say this every month, but time needs to slow down!  I still feel this way about the boys too.

One month vs Two months: Miss Ellie has done a lot of growing!

Likes: Being held, nursing, being bounced up and down, bath time, getting my diaper changed, watching my brothers, sitting in the bumbo

Dislikes: having a dirty diaper, any Paci, having bubbles in my tummy

Height: 23 1/4 inches
Weight: 11lbs 2oz

Feeding

When it comes to feeding Ellie is still exclusively being breastfed.  She is a great nurser, but I feel like she tends to like a snack during the day instead of having a full meal and going a long stretch between feedings.  This could be her personality and preference or it could be the fact that I rarely get to sit down and nurse her during the day.  I feel like I am usually doing something else while she nurses: reading books, making a meal, getting drinks, playing with the boys, etc.

At night right now Ellie is waking up anywhere from one to three times to nurse.

Sleeping

Sleeping has improved this month for Ellie.  At the end of month one I knew that I need to figure out a better sleeping situation for Ellie because she just wanted to sleep next to me.  On cyber Monday I found a good deal on a dockAtot and scooped it up.  It took a few nights for her to get used to it but now I am able to put her to sleep in it and she seems to really like it.  She is now going to bed between 9-10 at night. She will usually sleep until 2:30-4:30, putting her longest stretch at 7 hours so far!  (I wish I had gone to bed at the same times as her, but I think my longest stretch of sleep has been about 5 hours).  She then will usually sleep another 2-3 hours before she gets up again to nurse. and we are usually up for the day between 7-8:00.

Napping is something we are still figuring out.  She is still pretty little and cat naps a lot during the day, but usually has one or two longer stretches of sleep late morning and afternoon.  I found it difficult to figure out napping at this age with Will and James and I'm having the same issue with Ellie, maybe even more now because I have to work around the boys schedule.  But right now it doesn't seem to be too much of an issue.

Development and First

This month I feel like Ellie has really found her voice.  She loves to chat and engage with you and it is the sweetest thing!  She will respond to you with the sweetest coos and biggest smilers when you ask her questions.

Ellie got to meet her grandma and grandpa this month for the first time.  We had a nice visit with them when they came out to for a week just before Christmas.  Giving the boys and Ellie lots of attention and love!!

This month Ellie got to celebrate her first Christmas!  I love this time of year and it is magical to spend it with little kids in the house.  Ellie went on many walks at night to look at all the Christmas lights in our neighborhood, visited Santa three times, and attended the Zoo lights!  I would say she had a pretty fun, magically and special first Christmas!!

Ellie has started to lift her head up off the ground and hold it up for a short amount of time during tummy time this month!  I am so proud of how hard she is working.

I put Ellie in the bumbo seat for the first time this month and the smile she had on her face cracked me up!  Every time I put her in the bumbo seat she busts out a huge smile, she definitely enjoys the new view.

Other random thoughts

Ellie moved to size one diapers this month.

Ellie also moved into 0-3/3month clothes just this last week. I have just started packing away her newborn clothes and they look so tiny! I have no idea how she was fitting into them just a week ago and now they look so small!!

Dear Ellie,
My sweet little girl how has another month past us by already!  You are developing the sweetest personality and I love watching it develop a little more every day.  Your best time of day is the morning.  I love the huge smiles you give me when I un-swaddle you and you realize you have your arms again!  One of my other favorite times with you is after I've put your brothers down for bed, you tend to be very vocal and expressive telling me all about your day.  Speaking of your brothers you sure do love them!  You are incredibly interested in what they are doing and love when they come over to talk to you!  Your love of being held continues this month and your favorite place to be is in mama's arms.  You are extremely social for such a little girl and the doctor even commented on it saying how you are actually a little ahead for your age. You are getting stronger this month and have pretty good head control. You are working hard during tummy time to lift your head and can actually lift it well for short periods of time!  You bring so much joy to our lives Ellie!  I can't wait to see what this next month has in store for you!  I am blessed to be your mama!

Love you to the moon and back

Now for a huge photo dump of Ellie because I can't just pick a few photos!
