10 month update

Will and James | 10 Months

8:33 PM

Ten Months, TEN! How is that possible?!?  My sweet baby boys are barely babies any more.  I have started making preparations for their first birthdays, starting with scheduling their One Year photos.  I can't believe it is coming up so quickly: less than 9 weeks now!

As the Months go on it is definitely getting harder and harder to get the boys picture.  This was as good as they got this month!

Just to prove how difficult it is becoming to get their pictures I've decided to add a few of my attempts from their 10 month photo session with mommy!

These are in order of being taken on my camera: Happy Will, Sad Will, Happy Will...

James
Height: approx. 29.5in (birth 18.5in)
Weight: approx. 21.4 lbs (birth 5lbs 9oz)

William
Height: approx. 29.5in (birth 18.5in)
Weight: approx. 21.4 lbs (birth 5lbs 13oz)

EAT
There has not been much change when it comes to eating this month.  The boys continue to eat 3 meals a day with one or two snacks depending on if they are hunger.  They also continue to nurse several times throughout the day especially when they wake up and before naps.  They continue to love to eat most foods.  Popular foods this month: Spaghetti and Meatballs, Pizza (homemade by daddy), Chicken potpie, and bananas (a special favorite of Wills).

We are trying to introduce sippy cups and eating out of bowls/plates with utensils, but have had limited success so far.  The boys don't really get the concept of the sippy cup yet and as far as having a bow/plate placed in front of them they would rather chew or throw the bowl/plate instead of eating the food off of it.  They are good at using a spoon if the food is already placed on it.

SLEEP
Sleep, oh how I miss a full nights sleep.  I look forward to the day when I can say that both boys are sleeping through the night!

Will has been doing pretty well, most nights he is able to sleep from the time they go to bed around 6:45/7:00 until anywhere from 4:00-6:30.  If he does wake up he is usually able to get himself back to sleep.

James on the other hand goes down without a problem at 6:45/7:00 and is usually up again somewhere between 9:30-11:00.  If I can get him back down he is usually up again anytime between 1:00-3:00 and then he is up for the day at 6:30.  If I could just figure out how to get him to sleep better.  I am probably too soft, I hate hearing him cry and usually don't let him cry very long before getting him.  Most nights he ends up sleeping between me and daddy.

DEVELOPMENT, GROWTH, and PLAY
This has been a fun month and I feel like the boys little personalities are starting to come out.  They are both sweet and funny, but Will tends to be a little more hesitant in busy situation, sticking to mommy, while James is a little more adventurous and will venture further away from me.   James also is quick to give out smiles to strangers while Will has to think about it before he will give a stranger a smile.  Both boys give smiles easily and often to people they know and love.

The boys have started doing a lot of new things this month:

William pulled himself to stand up at a basket, sat himself up, clapped for the first time, gave his teddy bear kisses, waved for the first time, climbed into the shower, crawled on his hands and knees, and climbed the stairs (about 6 steps)

James started crinkling his eyes when he gets excited, climbed into the shower, clapped for the first time, climbed up the stairs (all 16 steps), waved for the first time, gave his teddy bear kisses, played the kazoo, walked pushing the walker.

Both boys now are pulling themselves up all the time using anything they can get their hands onto.  They have figured out how to open the cabinets in the kitchen and enjoy seeing what they can find inside them.  (It is definitely time to put locks on the cabinets!)  I have designated one cabinet for them to play in just like my mom did for my sisters and me and they seem to enjoy being able to get into that cabinet without mommy chasing behind them shutting the door.  They have learned how to climb in and out of the showers now and I have found them disappearing into the bathroom to climb in and they spend most of the time before bath time climbing in and out of the shower.

They have really begun playing and interacting more together this month.  They will chase each other and have actually played peek a boo together.  The excitement and joy on their faces in the morning when they see each other is priceless!  They are becoming great friends and I love watching their bond develop.

This seems to be the month where imitation has started to really catch on.  Will and James both learned how to clap their hands this month and will clap now when ever you say "yeah" or anytime really they are pleased with something.  Will actually clapped his hands for one of the dogs after watching them jump off the couch (He found that extremely impressive).  They have both slowly begun to wave (this is really hit and miss and is not a consistent skill yet).  One of my favorite things the boys have started to imitate is sniffing!  Will woke up one morning and just wrinkled up his little nose and started to show me he now knew how to sniff, soooo cute!  Not wanting to be outdone James was right behind him a few days later sniffing away.  Now multiple times throughout the day I will hear them sniffing, James has actually started snorting sometimes when he sniffs which is too funny! The most resent thing they have learned to imitate is playing the kazoo!  After watching me play the kazoo a few times James picked it up immediately and he hasn't put it down!  He will try to play almost anything he thinks resembles with kazoo like the kazoo, including straws, recorders, drumsticks, etc.

A few extra pictures because my boys are so cute and getting so big!

William So big standing up!

James' face cracks me up, He's such a sweet boy!!

James

My Jamie James, what a sweet sweet boy you are!  You are learning new things all the time and it amazes me how quickly you are picking things up!  You are more grown up every day and I can barely handle it.  You are so quick when you crawl now and that crawl gets even quicker when you know I'm coming after you to stop you from getting into something you shouldn't, like the dogs' food.  You have slowly started to walk by pushing your walker, just a few steps here and there until it gets moving too quickly for you and you plop on your bottom.  You still find immense comfort from mommy in the middle of the night, and as tired as I am, I love and adore these moments with you. I wish you could stay little forever, but I'm excited to continue to watch you grow and learn!  You bring so much joy and happiness into my life!

Love you forever!!!

William

My sweet, shy, beautiful William, this month your personality has started to come out more and more and you seem to be a bit timid is new/busy situation, but crazy and a ball of energy at home!  You are so sweet and adore your brother.  When James hurt himself you saw mommy rubbing his back and came over and patted his back right along with mommy and then laid your head down on his back.  It was one of the sweetest moments between the two of you I have seen! You are trying your hardest to keep up with James when it comes to moving and have officially started to crawl on your hands and knees although you seem to still prefer to army crawl most of the time.  I am incredibly blessed to have you in my life and to be your mommy!  I'm excited to see what new things you will learn this next month!

Love you my sweet boy!!
